Located in the Retiro Park, it was finished in 1922. It integrates 32 sculptures by different Spanish artists.

Monument of Colón

Plaza de Colón s/n
It was built in 1892 under the direction of the sculptor Antonio Mélida. Different scenes related to Columbus first trip to America can be seen in the three sections.

Woman with Mirror

Paseo de Recoletos
The wonderful sculpture by Botero has been display for some years on the corner of the Paseo de Recoletos and Génova Street. Another one of his pieces that you can appreciate right on the streets of Madrid is found on the Paseo de la Castellana, next to the Nuevos Ministerios.

Puerta de Alcalá

Plaza de la Independencia s/n
It is without a doubt the most popular image of the city. It was built to commemorate the entrance of King Carlos the 3rd to Madrid. The architect Sabatini was responsible for the construction of this victorious monument. The style of the columns and pilasters is a copy of the Roman Acropolis, while most of the sculptures are by artists that would later create the fountain of Cibeles. The layouts of the five arches of this gate were constructed according to what they were going to be used for. The central arch was used by the royalty, carriages used the two side arches and the outer were used by pedestrian.

Puerta de Europa

Plaza de Castilla s/n
Two identical towers which represent Spanish modern architecture.

Puerta de Toledo

José Bonaparte had this gate built, although it was not completed until 1827 , when Fernando the 7th became the new Spanish king. In fact, this victorious monument is dedicated to him.

Temple of Debod

Jardines de Ferraz
This Egyptian temple was brought to Madrid in 1970. It was a gift from the authorities of Egypt in gratitude of the collaboration of Spain during the Campaign of Nubia in which archaeological remains buried below the Nile on account of the construction of the Assuan dam were rescued.

It was built in the 4th century B.C. and is the oldest building in the city. Surprising and unfortunately; today the Temple of Debod occupies the place where the citizens of Madrid who rebelled against the French were shot on the 3rd of May in 1808.
